Pix4D pricing in one table
Aeroyantra is a cloud alternative to Pix4D that produces the same survey deliverables without a workstation or a perpetual licence. Pix4D costs $49 to $4,990+ across six separate products; Aeroyantra starts at $0 and charges $2.50 per credit as you process.

|---|---|---|
| Entry price | $49/month (Pix4Dcloud) | $0 (pay-per-use) |
| Desktop licence | ~$4,990 perpetual (Pix4Dmapper) | not required |
| Subscription | up to $249/month | $69/month Professional |
| Per-dataset cost | included in licence | $2.50/credit, $1.67 at volume |
| Workstation required | Yes, $2,000-$5,000 | No |
| Products to buy | 6 separate SKUs | 1 |
| 3-year cost, single operator | $15,000-$20,000+ | $2,500-$3,500 |

Why the licence price understates the real cost
The headline number people compare is the licence. It is not where the money goes.
Pix4Dmapper is desktop software that performs the bundle adjustment and dense reconstruction locally. That work is GPU and RAM bound, so a production machine is part of the purchase, not an optional extra — typically $2,000 to $5,000, replaced every three to four years. The workstation is also a single point of failure: while it is processing, it is not available for anything else, and when it is being replaced, nobody is processing.
Then there is the product count. Pix4D splits the surveying workflow across separate SKUs — Pix4Dmapper for processing, Pix4Dcloud for sharing and collaboration, Pix4Dsurvey for extracting CAD-ready vectors. An operator who needs all three buys all three. That is how a "$4,990 licence" becomes $15,000 to $20,000 over three years for one person.
Aeroyantra moves the compute off your desk. Processing runs on cloud GPUs you rent by the dataset, so the cost scales with work performed rather than with time elapsed. An operator processing four projects a month pays for four projects. An operator who flies nothing in February pays nothing in February.
What you actually give up
An honest comparison has to include this, because the answer is not "nothing".
Offline processing. Pix4Dmapper runs with no internet connection. If you process on air-gapped machines for security or work from sites with no usable connectivity, desktop software is the right answer and Aeroyantra is not a substitute.
Upload time. Cloud processing requires getting the imagery to the cloud. A 700-image dataset on a slow rural connection is a real constraint, and on a genuinely poor link desktop processing finishes first regardless of how fast the cloud GPU is.
Per-parameter control. Pix4D exposes deep control over the processing pipeline — keypoint density, matching strategy, densification parameters. Aeroyantra exposes fewer knobs by design. For most survey deliverables this is a benefit, but if your work depends on hand-tuning the bundle adjustment, you will notice their absence.
Fixed-cost economics at very high volume. A perpetual licence plus owned hardware has no marginal cost per dataset. Past a high enough continuous throughput, owning beats renting. If you process every working day at scale, run the arithmetic on your own volumes rather than trusting either vendor's framing.
Where Aeroyantra is genuinely better
No hardware to buy or maintain. The processing capacity is elastic. A 4,000-image corridor does not require you to have bought a machine capable of 4,000 images.
One product, not six. Orthomosaic, DSM, DTM, classified point cloud, volumes, contours and sharing are one platform and one bill.
Pay-per-use is the honest model for intermittent work. Most survey businesses are not processing continuously. Credits at $2.50, falling to $1.67 at volume, mean a slow quarter costs what a slow quarter should.
Collaboration without a seat licence. Sharing a result with a client or an engineer does not require buying them a seat, which is where per-seat cloud platforms become expensive fastest.

How to evaluate this properly
Do not take either vendor's word for it. Process the same dataset both ways and compare.
- Pick a project you have already delivered, where you know the ground truth from a total station or GNSS check points.
- Process it in your current tool and record wall-clock time, not just processing time — include setup, babysitting and re-runs.
- Process the same imagery and the same GCP file in Aeroyantra.
- Compare the check-point residuals, not the reported RMS. Reported error is the software grading its own bundle adjustment; check points are independent.
- Compare total cost for that one project, including the amortised share of hardware.
Aeroyantra's Basic tier is free and pay-per-use, so step 3 costs the credits for one dataset rather than a licence purchase or a sales call.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much is Pix4D?
Pix4D is sold as six separate products ranging from $49 to $4,990 and above. Pix4Dmapper costs approximately $4,990 for a perpetual desktop licence, Pix4Dcloud subscriptions start at $49, and the desktop products additionally require a dedicated GPU workstation that typically costs $2,000 to $5,000. A single operator running the full surveying workflow of Pix4Dmapper plus Pix4Dcloud plus Pix4Dsurvey, including hardware, reaches $15,000 to $20,000 over three years.
What is the best Pix4D alternative?
Aeroyantra is the closest cloud alternative to Pix4D for survey-grade photogrammetry, because it produces the same core deliverables - orthomosaics, DSM, DTM, classified point clouds and volume reports - without a workstation or a perpetual licence. Aeroyantra starts at $0 with pay-per-use pricing at $2.50 per credit, falling to $1.67 per credit at volume, and a $69 per month Professional plan. For teams who want to keep desktop processing, Agisoft Metashape at $3,499 one-time is the usual desktop-to-desktop swap, and WebODM is the free open-source option if you already own the hardware.
Is Pix4D worth the cost?
Pix4D is worth its cost when you process high volumes continuously, need offline processing on an air-gapped machine, or already own a suitable GPU workstation. It is poor value when processing is intermittent, because a perpetual licence and a workstation are fixed costs that do not fall when you fly less. Aeroyantra charges $2.50 per credit only when a dataset is processed, so an operator running four projects a month pays for four projects.
Can I switch from Pix4D to Aeroyantra without redoing my projects?
Yes. Aeroyantra accepts the same inputs Pix4D does - geotagged JPEGs, RTK and PPK image sets, GCP files in CSV format, and LAS or LAZ point clouds - and exports GeoTIFF, LAS, LAZ, DXF and contour shapefiles that open in AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS and QGIS. Existing outputs stay usable because the formats are identical; you do not need to reprocess historical projects to move new work across.
Does Aeroyantra match Pix4D accuracy?
Aeroyantra achieves 2-3 cm horizontal accuracy with RTK or PPK georeferencing and properly deployed ground control, which is the same accuracy band Pix4Dmapper delivers from the same inputs. Accuracy in photogrammetry is governed by ground sample distance, image overlap, camera calibration and ground control quality rather than by which software performs the bundle adjustment, so identical imagery and control produce comparable results in either tool.
